Advantages of SIP Construction

From an engineering and construction standpoint, SIPs offer:

01

Superior Building Envelope

SIPs offer continuous insulation and a virtually airtight structure. The end result is a stronger building with a fraction of the heating and cooling costs.

02

Speed of Construction

Structures frame out in a fraction of the time, which saves money on labor and gets clients in their homes faster.

03

Consistency

Shifting much of the construction process from an unpredictable job site to a controlled manufacturing environment dramatically increases the consistency and predictability of the end product.

How Our Engineering Approach is Different

Many folks will design an entire stick-frame structure and then specify SIPs to be added around it, which doubles the structural elements and drives up costs. We do things differently.  We are passionate about utilizing the full structural capacity of SIP panels. We go so far as to optimize the connection type in between each set of adjacent panels, adding strength where it's needed and optimizing for cost when it isn't. Our structures are designed for SIPs from their inception, which sets the contractor up for success right out of the gate.

Real-World Coordination & Shop Drawing Reviews

The prefabricated nature of SIPs panels makes them incredibly dimensionally accurate, but there can at times be discrepancies of a few inches between how foundations are designed and how they're actually built in the field. We always recommend clients to have as-built measurements of the foundation sent to the manufacturer prior to panel production. This isn’t possible on every job, but SIPs are surprisingly easy to field-modify if needed. We don't just design the plans and walk away; we ensure they work in reality.
