When you’re in the middle of a build, time is money. We make ourselves available to our contractors to keep them moving in the field.
We offer both remote and on-site support, depending on what makes the most sense for the client. While some inspections can be handled via video call, other situations require hands-on support, and a site visit is coordinated.
All of our contractors know they can call our office at any time if there is something unexpected in the field and they need live support. Sometimes, a quick phone call to clarify a detail is all it takes.
If there is an unexpected field condition and the design needs to be modified, we prioritize that work to keep the contractor moving forward without unnecessary delays.
The biggest value we can add to a project happens before construction even starts. To set a project up for success, we often hold a meeting with the contractor in the early phases of construction to go over the plans. If there is a unique construction condition, we make sure to point it out to the contractor along with any lessons learned from our past projects.
Catching a discrepancy early can save tens of thousands of dollars. For example, on a recent large two-story SIPs residential build, we took a copy of the plans, went on-site, and measured the freshly poured foundation to compare it to the drawings. Because SIP panels are manufactured to specific dimensions off-site and delivered for installation, precise measurements are critical. We made necessary changes to the shop drawings based on those measurements so the manufactured panels would exactly match the real-world field conditions.
Catching and correcting these differences before the panels went into production saved the client and contractor from dealing with panels that did not fit, wasted materials, and the steep additional costs of either remanufacturing the panels or having to switch construction methods to make the plan work.
